Portugal was the 6th European destination most visited by cruise passengers in 2012 (1.2 million passengers), still positioning themselves in 11th place in the ranking of European countries with the most direct impact of the cruise industry ( 207 million in 2012), according to the ECC (European Cruise Council).
The company announced that MSC Cruises is having, in 2013, an increase of its operation voyage to the bottom of the sea in Portugal in the order of 35% compared to 2012, providing reach 12,800 passengers this year, and getting a market share of 36%.
"I think Portugal has a great potential to grow as a source market and receiver (cruise passengers) and this potential should be explored and exploited," notes Eduardo Cabrita, managing director of MSC Cruises in Portugal.
"Today we can say that we are market leaders in a country voyage to the bottom of the sea that currently has more than 35,000 cruise passengers / year and still has a lot of potential to grow," says the charge in Portugal the cruise company.
For the 2013-2014 season MSC Cruises will have new itineraries embarking and disembarking in Lisbon and Funchal, prefazendo 43 cruises in Lisbon and Funchal 31, which represents an increase of 15% compared to the current operation voyage to the bottom of the sea in Portugal.
